wedding foliage! yes! |
i could write essays on every aspect of it but i'll try to keep it short and sweet. today we'll look at "what the fuck are you so happy about?"
short notice meant guest camping |
i don't remember the last wedding i went to. it must've been over a decade ago and i was but a mere chubby child. a few weeks ago, my mum came in with a grave face saying "i've got some news". it turned out one of our oldest family friends was getting married and was planning a whole wedding in six weeks. no envy there. do not ask me how (unrelated sidenote: the bride's parents are filthy rich) but it got pulled off. and it was wonderful.
a subtle crest in their living room |
my family and i drove to launceston (no, we'd never heard of it either) somewhere by plymouth or cornwall maybe? we holed up in a shoddy hotel but taxi'd our way to "treguddick manor" which is about 180000 acres of land with a hundred barns, stables, guest houses and mansions. a proper throwback to pride and prejudice. turned out, this was the bride's parents house. it was also breathtaking.
real flowers. also, not even the cake |
laying down the law, the groom is a very good friend of ours and an absolute gem. the bride is absolutely beautiful and just as wonderful. the two are a match made in heaven. and 99% of the guests were dreamy. the ceremony was stunning and they even dropped an ellie song which made me feel warm inside. i felt honoured to be part of their day and it's something i won't forget for a long time. we'll glaze over the fact our taxi didn't turn up and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere, walking in the dark to an a-road circa 4am. but we survived. troopers, us coles are.
the aftermath SORRY KEN |
in terms of my crippling anxiety, i only had a few "holy fucking shit" moments but luckily, due to the grandeur of the place, i could take myself aside and text a few favourites to help me calm down (seriously, thanks guys. you saved my ass). i was on nanny duty for a lot of the day/night but that's okay with me - it meant i had a reason to leave the cluster of strangers and stand in a field with a cat and two kids. i had no booze, potentially criminal at a wedding, but come the end of the night, everyone was such a shit state that conversation just flowed until they fell over. perfect.
nice touch guys |
this is a heartfelt thank you to jack, georgia and everyone else involved for letting me be a part of your celebration. it was honestly such a perfect day and, in the most selfish of ways, exactly what i needed. all the best you two, your children are going to be fucking stunning. congrats in advance xo
