i'm as free as my hair

embrace the bald
it's no secret that my hair is thinning and receding at an alarming rate. i'll spend far too long hairspraying (/gluing) my "fringe" into place just in case i come face to face with a breeze or, heaven forbid, a gust of wind. don't even get me started on rain. regardless, there's one necessity for anyone with thin/damaged/brittle/dry/awful hair and that's an oil.

here's a fun segment called: "what the fuck is that like?"

a few years back, i splashed out on some organix renewing moroccan argan penetrating oil. i'd heard lots of magical & wonderful things about the benefits of these oils and decided that after years of blowdrying and straightening (along with the injustice of poor genetics and bald family), my hair could probably do with some.

well, truth be told, it's all it's cracked up to be and more. a chuffing miracle, if you ask me. without this stuff, my hair is dull(er), limp(er) and (even more) lifeless: it adds body, shine, volume, moisture and healthiness. i overused it, tried a few different products, was continually disappointed and then came back to organix, tail between my legs.

since then, my loving parents bought me a fuck off set of macadamia oil extract hair treament, complete with shampoo, conditioner, oil and hair mask. they're nice, don't get me wrong, but very intense. one drop too many from the oil and we're stuck firmly in grease city and there's no going back from there. i swore by the pantene smooth and sleep dry argan oil for a while: long lasting, effective and reasonably priced. avoid the vo5 "miracle" concentrate elixir. it's overpriced for the size and the pipette seems like fun until you realise it's actually shit and the oil is too watery.

gabrielle was right, dreams can come true

there are reams of different oils for your hair and it's important to find the one best suited to you. i've just come across the new garnier ultimate blends marvellous glow oil and it's another winner. looks and smells glorious, it's the perfect consistency for my dying hair and adds just the right amount of volume and shine. apparently it protects up to 230 degrees too? nice touch.

why not try a new oil? slather it on after a shower. you'll feel guiltless, healthy, sexy and free.
