this must be a spell that i'm under

monday morning if it had a face
it's a late one today and for that i am sorry. there's been a lot happening today: i worked an early shift (fatal when you live so far from your place of work, transported there by staggeringly long bus journeys and uphill struggles through the centre of town), was given a vip tour of a friend's house, went to sort my head out and then went to a gig. there are lots of ingredients for happiness so let's cut out the middle man and talk about the nice things, okay? sounds good to me too.

"what the fuck are you so happy about?" wouldn't you like to know! (please say yes)

heaven must be missing an angel
there are a couple of real highlights from today which i'll write about swifty and lovingly. firstly, this is hiro. he is a 9 week old kitten - it pains me to say not my 9 week old kitten but that of my close work friend. she had a shit weekend so just up and adopted him on sunday for a laugh (not a laugh at all, she did it for the years of love and affection and attachment and dead mice). he might just be one of my favourite creations of all time: handsome, lively, cheeky, chirpy, inquisitive, cuddly and basically perfect. serious sidenote: if you can give a pet a loving home, adopt don't shop. i do it basically every weekend with a new hamster and, minus losing my ability to sleep, i fucking love it. here's to hiro!

FRONT ROW / shocking quality
secondly, let's talk about ella eyre again. i saw her live tonight at the academy and i'm inclined to write a dissertation entitled "why i love ella" but i'll cut it down to a insightful slither rather than a wikipedia page. she looked tiny and wonderful in a leopard catsuit. her hair was, as always, on point. her voice was pitch perfect and every song was a fucking smash hit. whatever she did, she did it with style and confidence: grinding, dancing, jumping, shouting, wiggling, headbanging, encouraging audience participation, saying "fuck" a fair few times and so much else. as if we didn't already know, tonight was affirmation that this starlet is going to go places.

let's do a really unsurprising song tonight... "what the fuck is that song?"

ella henderson's debut album, "chapter one", came out today and it's very close to flawless. nearly every song is a potential single but there's one which sticks out to me and that track is "rockets". it's fun, it's about being in love, it's funky, it's a little bit jackson 5-esque and the runs/riffs that she smashes in the chorus sound humanly impossible. it's not online yet which is even more reason to listen to these snippets and then go and buy the bastard album because it's so sleek and enjoyable, okay? xo
