a good comeback single is crucial. "we are never ever ever getting back together" remains iconic. hard to top, we've been waiting for ms. swift to return with another absolute stormer of a song. and after tonight's yahoo stream, it looks like she's firmly back in the game.

woah, but wait. "what the fuck are you on about?" and, more importantly, "what the fuck is that song?"

"shake it off" sounds a bit like modern day hanson mixed with modern day taylor swift mixed with lots of other wonderful things. gone are the obvious country influences, instead replaced with some more conventional pop moments. it's a big old middle finger to the critics, "haters" and exs. a classic feel good, empowering anthem from our very own swifto. it's understated, well produced, cleverly written and filled with enough modern pop references & perfect hooks to ensure its status as a benchmark single for the young woman.

 taylor swift is quite the pop star and this is quite the pop song. round of applause.
